Swansea 1-0 Norwich City: Paddy Davitt Championship ratings

No chance with Amankwah Forson’s right-footed touch to divert Jisung Eom’s cross. Had to back pedal to collect an audacious chip from Goncalo Franco with the midfielder trying his luck from the Swansea half.

Tip over from Eom’s dipping long range effort. Excellent sweeping up to halt Ronald who was on the burst in the 56th minute.

Not on the same wavelength as Kenny McLean as he looked to get down the touchline just as McLean released a short pass that was turned over in the passage of play that released Eom to cross for the luckless Forson’s intervention. Stood up strong in the 11th minute to win a grappling duel with Eom.

Took a fraction too long to control a raking Callum Doyle diagonal before picking out Josh Sargent.

Fine near post cross in the 44th minute needed more urgency from Borja Sainz with his run. On the overlap again in the 67th minute to collect from Marcelino Nunez but his low post cross was blocked.

Sliding block in the eighth minute cut out a dipping cross from Josh Key. Dwelt on the ball and was caught by Eom, but recovered the situation to head clear Matt Grimes’ inswinging centre.

Quick-thinking free kick sparked the move that saw Nunez lob the ball for Forson to produce an acrobatic mid-air stop from Lawrence Vigouroux.

Kept his levels from the previous Coventry win. Albeit it was his interception that saw Franco try to embarrass Angus Gunn. Positioning spot on in the 20th minute to cut out a Grimes’ low cross.

Raking pass for Jack Stacey to release the full back and Sargent. Strong in the challenge on Ronald, before a slip pass to Forson. Headed away again inside his own six yard box from Franco and Kyle Naughton.

Magnificent first time pass pierced the Swansea midfield to release Ante Crnac just past the hour mark.

Vital interception in the 24th minute to halt the overlapping Naughton. Timed his pass to release Forson in the 69th minute, who tamely clipped a near post cross at Vigouroux.

Tracked back into his own right back berth but it proved a costly decision to try and shovel the ball up the line for Swansea’s match winner. Excellent pressing, in tandem with Oscar Schwartau, teed up Sargent to drive at Harry Darling and test Vigouroux in the 16th minute.

Involved in the later headed chance for Forson, and Stacey’s overlapping run and cross in the second half. Booked for simulation when he hurdled his way between two Swansea defenders just outside the home penalty box.

Key to how Thorup wants to progress the ball but nowhere near as influential as Coventry. Chip for Forson’s 38th minute looping header. Best second half moment was the turn and release for Stacey.

Horrid moment for the young man in a bid to prevent Eom’s cross reaching a white shirt, but could only direct the ball past Gunn.

Heavy touch in the 12th minute saw a promising counter fizzle out. Quality free kick delivery met by Sargent, who glanced a header wide. Levered off the ball in central midfield too easily by Franco. Must have thought he had levelled when his looping header from Nunez’s set was acrobatically kept out by Vigouroux.

Clipped an aimless ball out of play after excellent turnover work from Callum Doyle. Sidefooted finish was blocked three minutes after the restart. Lovely flick around the corner invited Ben Chrisene forward.

Big call to start ahead of Ante Crnac for his full league debut following a transfer move from Denmark. But the teenager’s close control in tight situations was too often tardy. Athleticism helped McLean to force the turnover that brought Sargent’s best chance.

Follow up shot blocked, after the American had to check back from Stacey’s delayed pass. Couple of sloppy moments around the half-hour mark when on two separate occasions he over-ran the ball as he was found on the half-turn.

Denied by Vigouroux’s reflexes when he stuck up a left hand to block a fearsome shot, after Sargent had slalomed around Darling. Minute later a glancing header veered wide.

Was in again if Stacey’s pass had been earlier, and in front of the forward, in the 25th minute. Then turned provider to release Stacey but Sainz was on his heels.

Teed up Forson who went for the sidefoot. Lovely back heel released Sainz, who dallied to allow Ben Cabango to block.

Coventry match winner. But squandered a number of Swansea chances to add to his growing personal goal tally. Best arguably the last one, when he skied Onel Hernandez’s cutback after the Cuban picked out the unmarked Spaniard from close range.

Cabango’s last-ditch tackle drew fulsome praise from his manager, Luke Williams, but Sainz gave the defender an opportunity to make his crucial intervention as he tried to shift it onto his right. Was also sluggish in his decision-making when Swansea carved the ball straight to him with only Vigouroux to beat.

Early cross squirted to Sargent, but the striker's shot lacked any power. Tried to cut back onto his favoured foot again, but encountered traffic on a promising Crnac counter.

Couple of rising efforts skied over from the edge of the area in the midst of late Norwich pressure. Prompted the turnover that led to Sainz’s deflected shot and Sargent’s smothered follow up.

Tracked Florian Bianchini to produce a perfectly-timed tackle to halt a Swansea counter. Showcased his speed and power to shut the door on Ollie Cooper in stoppage time.
