Senior Norwich City scout Leonardo Scirpoli has announced his departure from the club after over two years in the role.

The Italian has been at City since December 2021, his second spell at the club, having also worked at Hertha Berlin, Arsenal and Cesena during his career.

Scirpoli hasn't made it clear whether it was or wasn't his decision to end his spell at the club but he isn't thought to be the only member of the backroom team at Colney who has left over the summer.

First-team coach Andy Hughes is closing in on a move to Leicester City to join Steve Cooper's staff, whilst Norwich are set to name Dean Rastrick as their new head of football development.

Ben Knapper has spoken about the importance of utilising data across their sporting strategy, with Lee Dunn heading up City's recruitment department and it plays an intrinsic role in their player identification process.

Scripoli has been responsible for the identification and assessment of talent, analysis, production of reports, video scouting and public relations with agents and other clubs during his spell at the club.

The scout confirmed the news of his departure on LinkedIn and thanked City for the opportunity to work in different markets and with different techniques to uncover talent.

'After two and half seasons, my working relationship with Norwich has come to an end," Scirpoli wrote on social media

'Started as responsible for the Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Czechia markets before switching to positional scouting with a focus on defensive lines. Has been an intriguing challenge that included video and live scouting of club targets alongside data analysis as part of the clubs wholesome recruitment strategy.

'I had the privilege to attend Europe’s most prestigious tournaments, maintaining and enhancing my international network of recruitment experts.

'I wish everyone involved with the Club the best of luck moving forward. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds.'

City's only incoming summer business so far has seen Panamanian international Jose Cordoba join the club from Bulgarian top-flight side Levski Sofia

Norwich employ a series of scouts - including two in South America as they seek to make a successful of fresh opportunities that opened up after the country left the European Union. City signed Marcelino Nunez and Gabriel Sara directly from that continent in 2022.
