Norwich City target Martin Frese has bid Nordsjaelland an emotional farewell as he prepares to leave them on a free transfer.

The Canaries are looking for someone at left-back after the departures of Sam McCallum and Dimitris Giannoulis, and they've taken an interest in the out-of-contract Frese.

He worked with City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup while at the Danish club, and is understood to be looking for an opportunity outside his home country.

The 26-year-old was emotional leaving Nordsjaelland, however, as he told club channels earlier this week.

"It was obviously a huge moment for me," he said of his last game. "A very touching moment, a memory that I will remember forever.

"Also a sad moment, it was hard for me to hold back the tears. They mean a lot, those fans, and they always have. That they chanted to me down there, that was big for me. It was respectful and I'm really glad they did it.

"The club means everything to me. They have helped me in bad times and in good times, and the fans have always supported us, so it's incredibly touching and it affects me a lot."

"It means a lot to me. I could tell by their eyes that it meant something to them too. I have full respect for that. Fortunately, I was one of the few who got the opportunity, to show off. First in the reserve team and later in the Danish Super League."

Frese did express his excitement at the opportunity to play elsewhere, however, with Danish reports suggesting that a move to England could appeal.

"Now I have had 12 good years here, and this is not a year I will forget," he continued. "But I'm also looking forward to getting out and seeing a bit of the world.

"I'll follow along from the sidelines, see how the club continues to take the next step. I look forward to following that."
