Wroxham Women 0 Norwich City Women 6

Norwich City were crowned winners of the Norfolk Women’s County Cup for the eighth time in their history after they comfortably beat Wroxham at Carrow Road.

Scott Emmerson’s Canaries dominated possession throughout against their tier five opponents, but were made to work for their victory, particularly in the first half, when there were few clear-cut chances.

However, City did manage to fashion the game’s opening goal before the break, with Natasha Snelling stabbing the ball past former Canary Bryony Williams from close range.

Wroxham did carry a threat on the break, with Lara Densley going on a number of adventurous runs down the Yachtswomen’s right flank, but they tired after the interval and City profited.

Katie Knights beat Williams with a left-footed effort to score in the County Cup final for the second year in a row, before Snelling nodded Lauren Tomlinson’s cross home just after the hour mark.

City made their triumph look even more convincing when Hope Strauss scored from the penalty spot and Ellie Smith got in on the act 13 minutes later. There was even time for a sixth goal in stoppage time when Wroxham substitute Holly Connell diverted the ball into her own net.
