Norwich City Women 5 London Seaward 0
Norwich City maintained their perfect start to the new Women’s National League Division One South East season by thumping London Seaward at The Nest.
A glaring error from Alex Baker gifted City the game’s opening goal inside the first 30 seconds, with Natasha Snelling intercepting the Seaward goalkeeper’s loose pass and slotting home coolly.
City were not especially fluent in possession in the first half but they defended well, limiting their opponents to very little. Hope Strauss scored the hosts’ second goal from the penalty spot in the 34th minute, after Shannon Shaw was fouled inside the Seaward box.
The visitors brought influential forward Katherine Long on after the break but City kept her relatively quiet while continuing to push for more goals at the other end.
Freya Symonds netted their third, curling home expertly from the edge of the box, before Snelling secured her second successive brace in the league by poking home from close range.
Substitute Holly Kennard then added further gloss in the 90th minute by firing past Baker to cap off City’s third win of the campaign.
Norwich City: Quantrill (c), Medd-Gill, Flye, Strauss, Moore, Morran, Powell, Shaw, Smith, Symonds, Snelling. Subs: Daviss, Densley, Hailes, Cook, Kennard.
