Josh Sargent netted his eighth goal in 11 matches to secure a valuable three points - with Norwich now hoping to end a run of one win in seven on their travels.
David Wagner will make a late call on Chilean international Marcelino Nunez, who missed Saturday's clash with the Black Cats with a hip injury. Kenny McLean, who came through a back issue to feature, is now fully recovered having played every minute this season.
Onel Hernandez is set to miss the remainder of the season with a broken foot sustained in training last week. Jon Rowe is continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury but is not expected to return until mid to late April.

City are out for revenge, having been beaten 5-1 by Boro on Teesside last April and 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Carrow Road in October.
Michael Carrick's side have only won one of their last eight matches at the Riverside Stadium and have slumped in the table after injuries adversely affected their Championship progress.
Whilst Boro may be boosted by the return of Jonny Howson and Isaiah Jones for this encounter, they are still without Hayden Hackney, Dael Fry, Josh Coburn, Darragh Lenihan, Tommy Smith and Alex Bangura all missing through injury.
Boro have been left to rue profligacy in front of goal in recent weeks and have only scored six goals in their last seven matches. Carrick is searching for significant improvement this time out.
