Progress is being made on talks between Norwich City and Celtic over the permanent transfer of Irish international striker Adam Idah. 

The Canaries rebuffed the Bhoys' initial £4.5m approach earlier this summer, but talks are ongoing around a fee of £6m plus add-ons for the 23-year-old. 

Idah was a hit on loan last season, winning a league and cup double north of the border, but discussions are now back on between the two clubs in the past 24 hours to strike a deal for the striker ahead of the August 30 transfer deadline.

Canaries' head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup reiterated at Colney earlier in Thursday the likes of Idah and Jon Rowe will not be leaving Carrow Road unless City's valuations are met.

“That's how it is. These guys, they train with the group, and they are important players for the group,” said Thorup. “We have to respect that the window is still open so many things can happen. We cannot affect what will happen.

"We cannot affect whether there will be an offer from a club here or there. That's also what I tell the players on a daily basis. Fortunately, they are they're doing well. They're performing well. They're training well and I will also say that their heads are ready to perform.”

The Daily Mail revealed details of Celtic's latest approach on late Thursday afternoon. Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of his desire to entice Idah back to Glasgow, after a successful loan stint, but the clubs were well apart in their initial discussions earlier this summer.

Idah has four years left on his current Carrow Road deal, and was disciplined by the Canaries for joining up late with the rest of the Norwich squad after he missed the team flight for a pre-season training week in Austria.

City have been tipped with an interest in Leicester City forward, Tom Cannon, in recent days, and Norwich are believed to have run the rule over the Foxes' frontman.

A deal for Ghanaian midfielder, Amankwah Forson, is expected to be completed ahead of the Championship kick-off at Oxford on Saturday.

Forson would join Jose Cordoba, Ben Chrisene and on-loan Manchester City defender Callum Doyle as new additions to the Dane's squad.
